PFRD General Auction Rules and Guidelines
Silent Auction
- Silent Auction items will be on display, and bids may be made until 9:00 p.m.
- Bidders should use the registration number on the bid forms.
- Bidders may raise the bid as high as desired, as long as the minimum raise is maintained.
- Please write legibly and include your registration number (located on your bid paddle) next to the appropriate bid amount on each respective bid sheet.
- Only an authorized Gala committee member may nullify a bid for the following reasons:
- lack of minimum raise
- illegible writing
- restricting booth access immediately prior to closing
- addition of bid after booth closure
- In the event of a dispute, the Gala's Co-Chairs shall act as the final authority and determine the winner.
- The Silent Auction will close promptly at 9:00 p.m.
- Values are donor estimates only and do not necessarily represent certified appraisals. The values are not warranted by PFRD for tax purposes or for general value.
- Unless otherwise specified, all auction items and services must be used within one year of May 16, 2008.
- Dates and times should be arranged at the mutual convenience of both the buyer and the donor, unless otherwise specified.
- All sales are final. There will be no exchanges or refunds, except where specified.
- In reference to school-related donations, items or activities are not subject to change.
- Please keep gift certificates in a safe place. Gift certificates cannot be replaced if lost.
- Payment may be made in cash, check, Paypal or American Express, MasterCard or Visa. Each check should be made payable to Parents For Riverside Drive.
- All auction items must be removed from the premises on auction night unless mutually agreed upon between the buyer and auction co-chairs.
- By his/her purchase, the buyer waives any claims for liability against Parents For Riverside Drive or the donor for property or services. Neither PFRD nor the donor is responsible for any injuries or damages to property that may result from the utilization or property of services sold.
- For value of items defined as "priceless" please consult with your accountant.
Guaranteed Bid:
Bidders have the option to guarantee a purchase from select Silent Auction items by bidding the guaranteed bid. Guaranteed bids are set above the retail value of each item determined to be fair by Southern Exposure. The first bidder to sign the bottom of the bid sheet commits to paying the guaranteed price and becomes the winning bid. Live items are not available for guaranteed bids.
Live Auction
- The Live Auction will begin at approximately 9:00 p.m.
- Use only the bid (paddle) number assigned for bidding purposes.
- Each bid legally obligates the bidder to pay his bid price in full if the bid is deemed the high bid by the Auctioneer.
- To participate in the Live Auction, place your bid by raising your paddle with the bid number toward the auctioneer.
The highest bidder acknowledged by the Auctioneer shall be the buyer. The Auctioneer has the right to reject any bid and to advance the bidding at his absolute discretion and, in the event of any dispute between bidders, to determine the successful bidder or to re-offer and resell the article in dispute. Should there be any dispute after the sale, the Auctioneer's record of the final sale shall be conclusive. At the moment the Auctioneer declares it, title to the offered lot shall pass to the buyer, who shall forthwith assume full risk and responsibility for the lot and may be required to sign a confirmation of purchase, supply his/her name and address, and pay the full purchase price. If the buyer fails to comply with such requirements, the lot may, at the Auctioneer's discretion, be put up and sold again.
